i thrift better solo.

so you have met some of the fabulous five who will be writing from the world of secondhand, aren't they wonderful? this is me. (hello.) more introductions coming soon, so stay plugged in!

this morning i hit every single thrift store in my city with a friend who recruited me to decorate her home. and it went alright. does anyone else have their magic finding powers leave them when they are in company? even with friends? it's a strange shopping sensation, but i guess i just get in a trance when i am by myself, it's almost meditative. and i always come away with more things for less when i am on my own.

i know what you mean, i never find anything when i am with people, even hubby! however, when i go alone i usually find something, even if it is something very small.

I just started getting "back" into Estate Sales and Tag Sales... I too love to shop alone. I often find myself saying, "Oh I wish so and so was here to see this!" But then as you said, when that so and so is with me, I find that I am more apt to skim the surface...

LOVE this new site!! I can't wait to see all the lovlies!!

What a great journal! It took me a while to appreciate second-hand items, but now I buy almost exclusively second-hand. Big fan of freecycle as well.

I can totally relate to thrifting alone. I need to go at my own pace, need to be alone with my thoughts. I enjoy so much more this way. Its my therapy!

I only thrift by myself, and I like to go when I'm feeling lucky. I get a sense if something is waiting there for me to find it. Like a little game of hide and seek. You just can't do it if you're feeling desperate to find something. Kind of like looking for a boyfriend. (or girlfriend)I'm getting that lucky feeling....

The other day I went with a friend to a new shop...my motto is go alone or don't go...but on this day I broke my motto.
When I oohed she ughed.
I doubt myself when I go with others, and regret it when I come home empty handed!

i am with you corey and jenny. shopping alone for anything is the only way to stay true to your heart. (not to mention using your time most wisely) having said that, if i have no intention of buying anything, i just love taking a friend to a special place to see what she finds interesting. that is when i happen upon my greatest treasures!
