The winter is long...

During the winter there are not any yard sales in my city. The cold, windy, snowy conditions just aren't yard sale friendly. Yard sales are usually the best places to find good quality items and great deals. It seems that people don't donate what they think they can sell, so our thrift shops tend to be lacking in interesting items. There certainly hasn't been anything fun at the shops the past few months.

I wanted to post something though, because I am alive and reading all the fun posts that the rest of you are making. In the spring I will have fun adventures to post about, until then I will have to live vicariously through your finds. Happy thrifting, and happy holidays, to all!

Slim pickings here, lately, both in the thrift shops and alongside the curbs. Guess winter is for crafting in the Great White North. :)

People seem to have caught on to the fact that good deals on cool stuff can be found in thrift stores around here, so it's pretty hard to find anything interesting these days. Also, some thrift stores have upped their prices, so sometimes even something kind of cool is too expensive to feel like a worthwhile purchase. Still, once I read here about someone's treasured purchase, it sparks me back out there to try again. So, thank you, tag sale/thrift store shoppers and sharers!!
Hugs,
Maryann

I know exactly what you mean. By March I am having serious withdrawals, and am simply aching for the 1st tag sale of the spring. Our local thrift stores don't have much either, as the Dutch in this area are, shall we say, thrifty???

I'm new to the crafting circle of blogs, but stubbled across this one the other day. My goodwill is still pretty good for finding treasures(found a vintage sheet from Sears still in the package today that I will turn into pillows for my girls' room), also found a thick small glass pitcher that looks to be from the 40's(I love old glass). But the best place lately for me is freecycle. I made friends with a woman who is slowly cleaning out her house. Today I picked up a vintage disney child kitchen set(stove and fridge), my boys will love it. Also from her, two more pieces to my Pfaltzgraff Folk Art dishes, 3 vintage snow globes, an old wall pocket, a wood game board, and a neat tin gingerbread house mold.

Hope you guys don't mind me posting, I just had to share my finds with others who share my enthusiasm(hubby just doesn't get it!).

Check out your local freecycle group, you never know what you might get!

Well, the warm south doesn't have much in the way of thrifting either. We tend to be yard salers too!

Here's to great shopping come spring!
